Melissa Caron Jewellers
Tucked away on Boatlift Lane, you will find a gem hidden — the studio where gold gets bent into ferns.
That's not a metaphor. Step inside and time slows down. This is a place where dreams are hammered into golden talismans, woven like tapestries into the night sky — guided by moonlight and constellations, the caress of the wind, the breathy dew of sunrise.
We'd like you to meet Melissa Caron. Her work isn't one aesthetic — it's a mythology. Each collection she designs is its own little world with a story attached: Water Nymph, built around a mermaid goddess at the depths of the sea. Forest Nymph, inspired by tree roots and moss, “born from bedrock.” Fairytale, built on gold “unfurling like fiddleheads.” She's not just naming rings — she's writing folklore, then casting it in gold.
Melissa is a designer, goldsmith, and self-taught storyteller who's always felt more at home in the woods than anywhere else. A backpacking trip through Central America thirty years ago set her on this path, and she's been carving gold by hand ever since — building a decade-long devotion to bridal work, custom design, and heirloom redesign that breathes new life into old family jewellery.
She has a retail shop at 1808 Boatlift Lane on Granville Island. Come browse in person or book a consultation to design something that doesn't exist anywhere else yet.
Next time you're wandering Granville Island, it's worth the detour — even if you just go to see what gold looks like when it's been convinced to grow leaves.
