The Lobster Man

One of the island's original tenants, The Lobster Man has been in the business of live shellfish since 1977 — 25,000 gallons of saltwater tanks holding Atlantic lobster, Dungeness crab, and whatever else swam in that morning. It's the kind of place where you pick your dinner out of the tank yourself, and they'll steam it on the spot if you don't feel like cooking.

These days it's just as known for what's ready to eat right now: a lobster roll built the New England way, warm brioche, real lobster meat, and a shrimp roll for anyone playing it a little safer. No dining room, no fuss, just grab it and find a spot along the water, which honestly might be the better seat anyway.

Whether you're stocking up for a dinner at home or just want lobster in hand while you wander the market, The Lobster Man has been Granville Island's answer to both for almost fifty years.
